Celebrate the summer with some cheap drinks. Time to uncork some new favorites with these best affordable Texas wines!
As a Texan by birth, I’m quite loyal to my heritage. I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Kelly Clarkson, Hilary Duff, and Matthew McConaughey. I’ll always choose Whataburger over In-N-Out and Dr Pepper will always be better than Coke–Coke being any soft drink that’s not Dr Pepper. That said, it’s no surprise that when I reach for a bottle of wine, my favorites hail from the Lone Star State. My favorites also happen to be pretty affordable, so if you’re looking for budget-friendly wines to add to your shopping cart, these are perfect and won’t break the bank.
Best Affordable Texas Wines
Best Value: Llano Estacado Winery Sweet Red
The first wine on the list is one that my husband and I always go back to. Created just down the road from our alma mater (Wreck Em Tech!), this sweet red is the perfect middle point between a sweet white and a dry red. The best part–I’ve grabbed this for as low as $6.99.
Best Red: Messina Hof Winery Beau
This Messina Hof Winery Beau is the rival to my Llano Sweet Red. About twice the price of Sweet Red, this blackberry and pear wine still comes in under $15.
Best Tongue Twister: Llano Estacado Winery Gewurtztraminer
This wine, while hard to say, is very good and the bottle is beautiful. For me, it’s the perfect wine for an evening when you just want to unwind a bit. It’s only $11 a bottle, which makes Llano Estacado the winner in the value wine category.
My Favorite: Sister Creek Vineyards Muscat Canelli
This sweet white wine has a slight effervescence to it. I call it “bubbly wine”. This wine is a hill country staple, but it’s a lot harder to find in my area. I’ve come across it a few times since we moved, so I always buy two or three bottles. I can only find it in one store, and most of the time I’m not willing to drive across town and deal with crowds for one item. I enjoy a glass of wine now and then, but not that much. 🙂
Husband Picks: Messina Hof Winery Orange Muscat Mistella & Llano Estacado Winery Cellar Select Port
These are both dessert wines, so I guess we’re sweet wine people. I like light and sweet wines, but my husband prefers the almost-chocolatey richness of port wines.
If you’re a Texan or you’re visiting and trying to keep your budget in check, these affordable wines won’t leave you disappointed!

I just recently started trying wine, so I’m really new to it all. I still haven’t found the one that I love…but I know I really like rose.

Oh you’re making me miss home (I’m a misplaced Texan, temporarily) I’ve always love Llano and Messina Hoff. I so wish those were available where we are.
Jessica says
Oh, I can’t imagine the sadness!! I’ll be sure to drink plenty for you. 😉
