Many people switch up their beauty routines throughout the year depending on the season. I’m not really one of those people. I guess I have a “signature” look, meaning that I fix my hair the same way or do my makeup the same way just about every day. I just know what I like and I tend to keep things that way. At the same time, I’m always on the hunt for “new” and “better”. I love trying new products and if I can find something new that does the job better than my current product, I’m all about it.
This summer has been no exception. I’ve been trying out new products and rotating in some oldies as well. I shop mostly at Target, Walmart, and Ulta, so I usually have a balance of drugstore and prestige beauty products in my line up. This summer, I struggled to find time to get to Ulta, and with Target being right across the street from my house (#loveit), I defaulted to doing a lot of my shopping there. That said, almost all of these items can be snagged at your local drugstore, with the exception of my favorite BB cream!

Burt’s Bees Fabulously Fresh Peppermint & Rosemary Body Wash
Two things I love are (1) peppermint and (2) rosemary. Imagine my delight when I stumbled on this Burt’s Bees product that combines both peppermint oil and rosemary extract. This yummy smelling wash is 99.9% natural and is a natural deodorizer. It tingles in the best way and leaves you feeling clean and fresh. I’m already on my second bottle!
Yes to Grapefruits Daily Facial Scrub
I sang the praises of this sweet smelling facial scrub last week when I shared the Best Affordable Natural Skincare Products! I’m loving everything about it, and it will definitely be on my list to repurchase once I’ve used it all up.

Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer
For the last few years, I have been using Benefit Big Easy BB Cream, and I still love it! (I’m a bit of a product junkie — can you tell?!) However, I was yearning to try something new and I love Tarte products. The Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer offers SPF, buildable coverage, stay-all-day wear. What I appreciate most is the lightness of this product. I don’t feel as if my face is melting off the moment I step out into the summer heat.
I originally received this product many, many years ago in an Ipsy bag. I used it until I hit the tin and then never gave this bronzer another thought. I’m not sure why, as I loved the color it provided, with not too much shimmer. I was quickly running out of bronzer and not wanting to splurge on a high-end product (though I love both Hoola by Benefit and Lorac Tantalizer). A light bulb went off and I set out to hunt down the Pixi by Petra Beauty Bronzer. This light bronzer provides just enough color and just enough shimmer keeping you from looking overly contoured.

Not Your Mother’s Sea Salt Spray
I used this product in my Heat Free Beach Waves tutorial, but I also use it anytime I wear my hair with natural waves. My hair is in an in-between state of straight and wavy, so when I’m feeling the natural waves, this helps coax them along. I also like to use this for a little more texture when I’m rocking second day hair. It’s so quick and easy to work with your natural texture when you’re in a rush or it’s just too hot for heat styling. Plus, you can’t beat the price tag on this one — it’s under 5 bucks!
