Take a peek into the day-to-day of a teacher by day, all the time wife and dog mom! Life around here changes constantly, but this is a look at the I Am Teacher Fit headquarters in the fall of 2017.
Over the summer, I did a series called Teacher Off Duty and had a lot of fun with it. One of my favorite posts from that series was Teacher Off Duty: A Day in the Life. Well, this teacher has been back on duty for about eight weeks and things are looking different these days, so I figured it was time for an update! I started at a new school in August and am currently training for a half marathon, so life is crazy busy. Buckle in!
4:15-4:30 a.m.: My alarm goes off and wakes me for the day. I drag myself out of bed and stumble into the bathroom to get dressed for my workout. My husband stays in bed for about another hour and does his best to ignore the tiny streams of light peeking through the doorway.
4:30-5:20 a.m.: I start the coffee and let Pippa out to potty and then she goes right back to sleep. Next, I put my shoes on to get ready for my workout. Lately, I’ve been doing traditional weight lifting (in the comfort of my own home!), so I transition between upper body and lower body depending on the day. I still like to add in about one day of total body and one day of yoga per week!
5:25-5:40 a.m.: After my workout, I move to the couch and start my Bible study for the day. I’m working my way through Song of Songs and loving it! I’ve read a lot of different pieces from that book throughout the years, but never the whole book start to finish! By this time, hubby is awake and getting ready for his own work day.
5:40-6:00 a.m.: After Bible study, I start breakfast, and just like in the summer, we have eggs every day! I have some kind of carb for breakfast too since it’s right after my workout. And, well. I like carbs for breakfast.
6:00-6:35 a.m.: Around 6:00, I hop in the shower and then have breakfast. During this time I usually do just a few blog things. If I’m linking up with someone that day, I try to get it done then. I might type out a few emails while watching Fox & Friends or some Watch Mojo video on YouTube with my husband!

6:35-7:10 a.m.: Hubby leaves for work about this time and I try to force myself to go get ready. I love my job and I’m excited to go, but it’s the getting ready to go part that I’m not so much a fan of! It’s taking me forever lately and I really need to work on getting faster. A few months ago I had it down to a science — 15 minutes was all it took. But summer break made me lazy. 🙂
7:25-8:00 a.m.: Although I’d like to get to campus earlier, lately this is about the time I’m rolling out the door. It takes me under 5 minutes and no traffic lights to get to work, so I’m still there by 7:30. I spend a few minutes gathering my thoughts and getting ready for the day before I let my kids in at 7:45.
8:00-9:30/9:30-11:00 a.m.: Shortly before 8:00, I send my kids off to their first period class. If it’s an “A” day, my fourth graders come in about that time and we have class until 9:30. If it’s a “B” day, I have a planning period until 9:30 when my fifth graders come back.

11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m.: We have chapel, recess, and lunch in the next couple of hours and that’s a whirlwind!
12:45-1:30 p.m.: All my students head to special classes and I have a little bit more planning time. Another thing I need to get better about this year is using my planning time. 🙂 I’m really good at getting caught up in visiting with my coworkers instead of getting work done!
1:30-3:45 p.m.: My afternoon class comes in — whichever grade I didn’t have in the morning — and we get to work! It’s a long blog, but most days it flies by. My students are great, and as the teachers out there know, there’s always work to be done and never enough time!
4:15-5:30 p.m.: After trying to get prepped for the next day, I’m free to head home around 4:15 and most days I leave around that time, especially if I have a training run planned for the afternoon. I try to get out the door by about 4:50 and be back by 5:30. Since it’s been so hot, there have been a few days when I’ve had to stay inside and run on the treadmill.

5:30-6:15 p.m.: After my run, I start dinner and wait for my husband to come home. I’ve said it before, but one of my favorite wifely duties is preparing meals for my husband. He works hard all day and I love being able to take at least one burden off his shoulders.
6:15-8:30 p.m.: We eat dinner together and might watch a show or two afterward. We just finished The Defenders on Netflix and we watch Ray Donovan every week. My husband likes Ballers, so when he watches that I tune it out and blog for a while. I think Vice Principals is hilarious and I’m glad it’s back for another season! We head to bed pretty early, around 8:30 or so, just to get up and do it all again the next day!
Question: What does a day in your life look like right now?
I’m linking up with my sweet friend, Crystal, for Tuesday Talk!

I love these type of posts! But oh gosh, I don’t think I could ever get up that early to work out. LOL Good for you though.

Haha, thank you!! It’s not easy and I wish I could sleep later every time my alarm goes off that early lol.

I love reading these posts! Getting up at 4:15am to workout, I wish I could do that, alas, I have to wake up at that time so that I can drive to work, boo! Working out happens after work, if I can get it in. I should go to bed at the same time as you, but I tend to go to bed about 11:30pm…oops! One day I’ll get more sleep right? Stopping by from Tuesday Talk

I would be so sad if I had to get up that early for work!! What a commute that must be!

Wow, Kudos to you for getting up so early to workout and do Bible study! Me and my labrador don’t even wake up before 6 am so I would never be able to get a morning run in…haha
I wish i only lived 5 minutes from my school. Are you contracted to stay until 4:15 or do you stay that long to get things done!
p.s I finally added you to my blog list so now I hope to visit more often!

I’m contracted to stay until 4:15! My kiddos are released at 3:45, so we hang around for about 30 minutes afterward for any tutoring/parent conferences/etc!
