Last month, I participated in Laura’s nutrition course for runners. The course aligned perfectly with the introduction of a new half marathon training cycle and I’m so glad I got to participate! The information I’ve learned is going to help carry me through the rest of this training cycle and into the future.
What is it?
The Runner’s Fit & Fueled course is a month long virtual course that Laura runs with finesse through Facebook and email. The information in the course is specific to runners and focuses much on the ins and outs of fueling for training.

Throughout the course, Laura brought to light so many of the questions that swirl around my head when it comes to running. What do I eat? When should I eat? Carbs?? Strength training?? She hit on these issues and so much more.
Who is it for?
Runners!! If you want to run faster and stronger I believe that nutrition plays a HUGE role in that. Nutrition is so important whether your goal is to lose weight, gain muscle, or increase speed. If you’re feeling like your running needs a boost, this course is a great place to start. I’ve taken in these tips and already seen improvements in my own performance.

What will you learn?
I learned a lot from this course. Much of the information I’d heard or read, but never really taken to heart. Some of it was totally new to me. One of the greatest lessons Laura shared in this course was in regard to strength training. I’ve always known that it’s not necessary to absolutely kill a workout every day, but I have trouble taking it easy sometimes. Thanks to Laura’s advice, I’ve really evaluated my weekly workout schedule and where certain things fit in. I’m already seeing the benefits of that in my training runs. She also introduced the concept of “train low, race high” which I’m totally intrigued by and can’t wait to start experimenting!
Do I recommend it?
Absolutely!

I haven’t taken a nutrition course – I follow a few tried and true nutritional regimens, but it’s not one of my top priorities. I’m always interested in more knowledge so that I can be better at my job when answering questions for others in the industry.

I often feel guilty about taking rest days and relaxing. Its nice to hear that there are people out there who support and encourage the rest.
