Another week has come and gone. I can’t say I’m quite ready for Monday to roll around again, but I know it’s coming regardless! Before it does, I’m taking a look back at the week past and how stayed active and moving!
Sunday, 2/18/18:
A super fast workout — in fact I wouldn’t even call it a workout. I just did a bit of core work and some stretching, so I’m saying this was 100 percent active rest! And that was A-ok with me for the day.
Monday, 2/19/18:
I had the day off for President’s Day! Hallelujah! After a slow morning, I got to work with a biceps and booty workout and then headed out for a run. I had 5 miles on the schedule and in the 84 percent humidity I felt like I was swimming. I stuck with it though, and it was over before I knew it.
Tuesday, 2/20/18:
Back to school! The workout of the day was a HIIT that was so hard. I found myself begging for the stretch out at the end!
Wednesday, 2/21/18:
AM: I started the morning with a back workout that was awesome. It included lat pulldowns with dumbbells, which I’d never done before. I love lat pulldowns and have been trying to figure out how to incorporate them at home. I’m glad I now know how!
PM: Texas cannot decide if it’s time for spring or if it’s still winter and we had a cold front hit Tuesday night. With a feels-like-18 wind chill, I’d decided against my outdoor tempo run. But I ended up bailing on it as a treadmill workout too. I got home later than intended and made the mistake of checking my email right before I started. I ended up sitting on the bed for another 10 minutes trying to answer emails. I finally hopped on the tread for 15 minutes of sprints and a very short flute workout.
Thursday, 2/22/18:
Rest day.
Friday, 2/23/18:
Upper body day with some serious work on the shoulders. I love working shoulders! That and upper back are some of my favorite parts to work and always leave me sweating!
Saturday, 2/24/18:
Long run Saturday was another 9-miler! This one didn’t feel quite as easy as last week’s. This is probably due to a number of factors — a cheated training run on Wednesday, 100% humidity, not waiting long enough after eating to go out, not prioritizing hydration this week, yada-yada. But in any case, it’s done and I can move on to my 10-miler next weekend!
Week 8 Miles: 15.5 Miles
Total Miles: 106.1 Miles

Looks like you had a great week! I like working upper body too. As runners we focus so much on the lower body that it’s nice to have a change of pace!
Thanks for linking!

It sounds like we had some of the same humidity this week,. Nice job in getting your nine miler done! Those tough runs only make us stronger. Thanks for linking!

Great week of workouts. It is hard to believe it is only February when it was 70 degrees the other day. It was a good week of workouts for me too because of the warm weather. 2 double digit runs….yay!

What a great week! I haven’t started training for a race yet but that will start soon. I have a half in May that I just registered for!

I had a 9-miler on Saturday, too! My weather conditions were a bit colder than your, though LOL, but over all, the run went well. I love all your upper-body work!

Another awesome week of training! I’m sorry that your long run didn’t go that great on Saturday, but like you said, you can move on and totally rock you upcoming 10 mile run!

I love to work shoulders and back as well. I always feel it! I am still figuring out how to fuel for long runs. Some days it works better than others.
Jenn says
Great stuff out there! Shoulders and back are some of my problem areas (that’s where I carry all my stress), so I love getting those worked out.
I am training for two 15Ks and a half marathon over the next month. I’m pretty excited to see how they go!

Great week! And even though long run didn’t go very well, I love that you were able to pin-point the reasons why! I just finished week 8 of training for my first Half Marathon! Here is hoping this coming week is a great one too!

I’ll apologize for that cold front… Colorado got snow Monday night into Tuesday, and it just sweeps down to Texas. I remember those cold fronts in Dallas, and they made working out tough. I did not want to walk to my apartment complex’s fitness room.

You look so strong. Do you just make up your own workouts? I love not having a schedule for my running, but right now I have three races on the calendar for this Spring!

Looks like you had a great week girl!! Way to get that long run done! Arkansas is just as confused with the weather, that’s for sure! I’m just happy to see the sun today instead of all that crazy rain!
Have a great Monday!!
Andrea says
The weather can’t seem to make up its mind in any part of the country! Glad you got some miles logged despite the craziness!
Hannah says
I would not have guessed you could do lat pulldowns with dumbbells! I’ve done them with a resistance band anchored on a pull-up bar before.
