Disclosure: As an ambassador for LEGEND Compression Wear, I’m excited to share this information with you. I received a pair of LEGEND Compression Wear socks for free, but all opinions are my own.
Do you use compression gear as an athlete? If not, here are five reasons you should start!
Like I Am Teacher Fit on Facebook
I’ve been exercising regularly and running for almost seven years, but it took me a long time to buy into the idea of compression gear. Truthfully, I think I just thought they were long colorful socks.💁🏻Then 2017 rolled around and I ran more miles last year than I ever have and began searching for ways to recover from my runs quicker, and just take care of my body.
When I discovered LEGEND Compression WearLEGEND Compression Wear, I never looked back! I wear my compression gear before and after runs, and sometimes even during runs! If you’re still on the fence, here are five reasons to wear compression gear as an athlete.
ONE // Limited Swelling
Compression wear can help to reduce swelling and keep your legs fresh. Before runs, after runs, less swelling is always a winner. I typically prefer to run in the afternoons, but as a teacher I spend all day on my feet. Sometimes this means my legs aren’t as ready to run as I’d like them to be. When I learned this, I knew I had to try out compression for myself.

TWO // Decreased Recovery Time
Limited swelling naturally equals a decreased recovery time. This helps you stay healthy and get out the door for your next run or workout without any downtime.
THREE // It’s Not Just for Running
If you’re incorporating regular leg day, doing plyometrics, or any other kinds of cardio that are not running, your calves are getting a workout — even on days you’re not running! Recovering from your other workouts is just as important as recovering from runs, so compression can help you through that process.
FOUR // It Just Feels Good!
Compression socks, sleeves, pants, whatever, just flat feel good! Think about it — it’s like a warm, tight hug for your legs.😂Why would you say no to a hug?! LEGEND Compression Wear is “right not tight” and is the perfect level of compression.

FIVE // It’s a Form of Self Care
I understand that everyone is busy. I know I am! There’s not always time for a massage or a bath after a long run, so it’s easy to allow self care to take a backseat to the rest of the day. However, throwing on some compression gear after you’ve showered helps reduce swelling, decrease recovery time, and lets you go on about your day. There’s really no excuse NOT to use it!
Question: Do you use compression socks? Have you tried any other types of compression gear?

I have several pair of compression socks and even tights but honestly I don’t think they do anything. I haven’t really seen a difference with wearing them.

I’m a Pro Compression ambassador and have like 45 pairs of their socks! It’s amazing. I love the designs but I also love the feel of them.

I’m a huge fan of compression gear for running and recovery. I’ve been using compression socks for years and I don’t think I could get through my training without them. I also use compression shorts and leggings.

I have never tried compression anything but you have convinced me to try someday.

I’m a fan of compression, too. I prefer calf sleeves over full socks, but I use both as needed. I have never determined if they aid in my “performance,” but I know they make my recovery from long runs/races SOOO much better. I used to have some swelling after long runs, but it didn’t show up until a day or so later (much like the DOMS), but since using compression for recovery, I don’t notice much swelling at all.
