Today, I’m recapping last week’s workouts and sharing my goals for the month of June!

Happy JUNE! I’m so sad that my first week of summer break has already come to an end–ha! But that’s ok because there are still plenty of fun things planned for the weeks ahead. Well, except for tomorrow. Tomorrow I have jury duty. But because it’s still Sunday let’s recap the week past–Weekly Wrap style!
Sunday, 5/27/18:
Rest day! It had been a while since I’d taken one, so I was in need.
Monday, 5/28/18:
Monday was Memorial Day for those of us in the U.S. and a welcome break from work for my husband. We didn’t do much all day, but I still got in a workout as it was the first day of a new phase of my strength program. I lazed around for a while before hitting arms, abs, and lower body.
Tuesday, 5/29/18:
Tuesday my husband headed back to work and I got in my planned cardio workout before 8 a.m. I spent the rest of my first “real” day of summer break not doing much of anything. That was kind of my theme for the week really. Workout. Eat. Watch shows on the DVR from three months ago. Repeat.

Wednesday, 5/30/18:
I tried something new on Wednesday and headed to a local gym with a friend from work. She had been begging me to tag along with her for months, so I finally did. It was a CrossFit style workout, but with much lighter weight. We did a 20-min AMRAP of running 200m, weighted butterfly sit-ups, kettle bell lunges, hollow rocks, clean and press, and vertical crunches. That was followed by a 6-min AMRAP burnout of 10 wall balls and 5 burpees. It was so nice to mix it up and work out with a new crowd, but unfortunately the gym is outside of our budget right now.
Thursday, 5/31/18:
Thursday was LEG DAY! And it was a tough one — especially after the soreness in my quads from Wednesday. I also dropped Pippa off at the vet early that morning for a little surgery. You may remember after Christmas when we spent a night in the emergency vet. Her little issue has resurfaced, so we had to get it taken care of again. Baby girl did great and was definitely loopy from her meds, but is feeling much better now.
Friday, 6/1/18:
Friday was a busy day! After getting in a quick cardio workout I had a few errands to run before heading out of town for my cousin’s high school graduation. It was a 2-hour drive, so I left early in the afternoon and didn’t get home until after 11 p.m. Thankfully, I got to give him a hug at a family party before the ceremony. That kiddo makes me feel old, but proud! He was born when I was in the 5th grade, so our relationship has gone the full spectrum. I was obsessed with him as a baby because don’t all little girls love babies?! When I was in college I babysat him on the weekends, and now I get to be his friend as he makes the transition into adulthood. Life is cool like that.
Saturday, 6/2/18:
Waking up and getting moving was hard after a long Saturday night. I think it was close to 11:30 before I was no longer a slug. Nevertheless, I did accomplish SOMETHING in the form of a lower body workout, but the rest of the afternoon was spent resting.

I’m so thankful for another great week of workouts! I was also looking forward to no more pre-5a.m. wake up calls for a while, but with jury duty this week, it looks like I may be back to those. But who knows–I may show up tomorrow only to be sent home a few hours later. (Secretly, I hope this is what happens.)
Because it’s the first Sunday of a new month, I’m also sharing my goals for June! Are you setting any goals for the new month?
ONE // Get the house clean!
Now that I’m home for the summer and I’ve taken a week to rest, it’s time to get the house cleaned up! It may not happen this week thanks to jury duty, but gosh it will happen!
TWO // Stick to my meal plan and minimize snacking
When I’m home in the summers I have to make an effort to increase my meal portion sizes and decrease my snacking. Otherwise I will literally eat myself out of house and home!
Question: Have you ever been summoned for jury duty or served on a jury? I have! It made for some interesting stories. Are you sitting any goals for the month of June?

I hope you don’t get picked for jury duty either! This past winter I was chosen to serve on a jury that was supposed to serve for 2 weeks. The next day I showed up and the case was settled. It was really interesting because it was a medical malpractice case and I’m a nurse practitioner. Even more interesting was that my employer was one of the defendants in the case! A few weeks later, our nurse was called for jury duty and was chosen. Her case did go the full 2 weeks. It’s a really good experience. Just super inconvenient.

I have had jury duty twice, both times within a couple weeks of each other. It was totally an inconvenience because I had just started a new job and it really messed up my training. I also got summoned another time, but wasn’t chosen. Now it’s been almost 15 years since my last “initial phone-in.” Of course, since all of my kids are out of school, and I do have flexible hours at my job, I probably will never be called/summoned again.

I have been lucky that I’ve never been selected for Jury Dury – I hope you don’t get picked either! It’s such an inconvenience and also who wants to be cooped up in a courthouse all day during summer break?!
So happy to hear that Pippa is okay and on the mend!

Great job with your workouts! I would love to do more strength training…I’m sure I’d really struggle with lifting anything heavy, haha! And I hope your dog is feeling better!
I’ve been called for Jury Duty a few times but I’ve never been picked. The first time I got called I was selected, then they changed their mind and said I could leave LOL!

I’ve done jury duty in Massachusetts and Texas and thankfully didn’t get chosen either time. I remember I was so tired when I got home in Texas because it was an all-day thing for me. We got a DA who loved to hear himself talk and gave us a presentation before jury selection. Ugh.

Hopefully Jury Duty isn’t a total drag and takes up your whole week. I actually got out of it last time, so I know I won’t be as lucky next time around. I bet the sleeping in feels lovely now that you are out of school now.

Hope Pippa is feeling a lot better now!
Your goals are so similar to mine. I have been on this “cleaning/decluttering” mission since the beginning of the year. There’s been great progress but hoping I complete it all this month. And snacking – oh my word, that’s my biggest problem! It doesn’t help that it’s winter here now and the cold weather always makes me want to snack more!

I’ve only been called for jury duty when I was in school, so I never had to go. I feel like serving on a jury is one of those things I “should” do, but at the same time I’m afraid I’d get a gory murder trial or something that I couldn’t handle!

Glad your pup is OK. She’s beautiful
Snacks when I’m home are my undoing and why I could never work from home. Good luck! Pack snacks for jury duty though, depending on area. Could be slim pickings near courthouses
100% on the DVR too . About to declare amnesty

I hope you enjoy sleeping in and getting an actual break during your summer. Don’t pack too much in. 😉 I’m glad Pippa did well with her surgery. Dog are so funny when they are loopy. I’ve only been picked once to actually be on a jury and decide someone’s guilt or innocence. I thought I was going to get picked on a homicide, but thankfully I was released toward the end — only after hearing all the sad details. Thanks for linking!
