Take a peek into the day-to-day of a teacher on summer break! Life changes constantly, but this is a look at the IATF headquarters in summer 2018.
Every now and then, I like to do a “day in the life” kind of post. I love reading them from others and they’re fun to write! They’re also fun to look back on to see how life changes through the years. I’m enjoying my fourth summer break as a teacher and all have been different. So far, this one has been the busiest! Here’s a peek at what a mostly typical day looks like in the summer of 2018.
5:30-6:30: I’ve learned that I’m much more productive in all areas of life if I get my workout in first thing in the morning. I’ve been trying my best to get up by about 5:30 each morning and start my workout shortly thereafter.
6:30-7:15: I’m usually finished with my workout, whatever it is, by about 6:30. Afterwards, I enjoy my first cup of coffee and my breakfast with my Bible study and personal development for the day. Right now, I’m working through a study on Psalms and reading A Tribe Called Bless by Lori Harder.
7:30-9:00: After my morning routine, I usually take Pippa for a quick walk. It’s been so hot lately that if I don’t do this early, it just won’t get done! Afterwards, I do some quick chores–start the dishwasher, the laundry, whatever–and then get ready for the day.

9:00-10:30: Around this time, I usually try to get in a “power hour” for my business. This could anything from reaching out to following to up to planning and organizing. I typically set a timer for 60 minutes and try to fit in as much as possible. An hour usually isn’t enough and I spent 15 minutes on either side trying to get organized for being organized. I need to work on that.
10:30-11:00: Housework never ends, even in the summer. Whatever the task for the day is, it’s much easier to complete in the morning before it gets too hot. No matter how good our AC is, that 110 degrees just seems to work its way into every crack and crevice making the house much warmer than it needs to be.
11:00-1:00: Time for lunch! You know, I haven’t meal planned since school got out and it’s been truly liberating. I’ve been doing just fine with putting together healthy balanced meals and not spending hours in the kitchen. I also take this time to just hang out for a while, usually watching a Law & Order: SVU rerun that I’ve seen at least twice.
1:00-2:00: I try to spend a little bit of time each day doing a little bit of blog stuff. Last summer I was on top of my game! This summer, not so much. I’m getting better at power hours for my business, so I should probably institute one for my blog as well!

2:00-3:30: If I have any errands to run for the day, I do them around this time. It usually includes Target and spending too much money.
3:30-6:00: I feel like I am always busy, but now that I’m sitting here thinking about it, I don’t know what in the world I do in the afternoons over the summer?? Around 5:00 I usually start dinner. Ha, I will be more intentional with this for the rest of the summer!
6:00-7:00: Dinner is around 6:00 and it’s usually spent simultaneously catching up o a DVRd show. Right now, I’m into The Bold Type. I watched the entire first season in like a day. What are you watching lately??
7:00-9:00: More TV time, some blogging, some business. I wind down around 9:00 and get ready to do it all again the next day!

It’s good to analyze your day like you’ve done. I haven’t done it in a while and definitely need to!
