It’s Monday and another day! Every once in a while, I like to post a “day in the life” style post — because I like to read them when others post them, and they help me take a look where all my time goes during the day! A few things have changed since the last time I posted one of these, but if you’re curious you can see all previous “day in the life” posts here!
An Updated Day in the Life {Spring 2019}
4:40: Right now, my alarm is going about 4:40, but depending on how pregnancy insomnia is treating I might already be up. If not, I will roll out of bed, brush my teeth, and get ready for my workout of the day. After starting the coffee, I head into my workout room and get started. Right now I’m doing Lauren Gleisberg’s prenatal plan. I really like it!
5:30: I’m usually finished by 5:30 or shortly before, so I start breakfast. My husband and I have eggs everyday. He usually eats a few gingersnap cookies and shares them with Pippa, while I have toast or oatmeal with some fruit.
I do my Bible study while I eat and we catch up on recent news. My husband leaves for work around 6:45 and I *try* to start getting ready about that time. I’ve been doing a pretty terrible job of that lately and spending too much time on the couch after he leaves!
7:30: While I’d like to leave earlier, the motivation just isn’t there lately. Most days I’m out the door and headed to work by 7:30, give or take a few minutes.

It’s a short 4-minute drive. I put my things down in my classroom, turn on my interactive board, go fill up my water bottle, and take one more (sometimes two) restroom break. (#pregnancy) I let my students in the door around 7:55 for our first class of the day.
8:00-12:00: I have a super full teaching load this year, with no AM breaks any day, except Thursday. We run a block schedule, so depending on the day I’ve taught anywhere from one to four classes by noon. We also squeeze a 30-minute Chapel service into the morning. Lunch happens within the noon hour each day and I’m back to teaching by by 12:45-1:00.
1:30-3:15: Three days of the week, I have my planning and prep time in the afternoon. I try to check as many things off my to-do list at this time so I don’t have to stay too long after school. On Thursdays, my planning and prep is in the mornings, so I use that day to do all of my lesson planning, copy running, and Baby M doctor visits!

4:15: We are cleared to leave campus at 4:15 each day, and most days I don’t stay long after that. I head in from car duty, make sure everything is in order for the next day, and get on out of there!
It’s rare that I’ll plan a stop after school, but if I have to I will. I don’t like leaving after I get home, so I try to take care of it in one fell swoop. After I get home I try to do a quick cleaning task, but a lot of days I end up just sitting down to rest. Lately, we have been in the “nesting” phase and are trying to get everything ready for baby, so I also try to squeeze some of those things into this time. We’re almost ready for her. Her crib is ready to go and I’ve done all her laundry. Experienced mamas, tell me, what am I missing?
5:30: My husband gets home around this time and I’ve usually started dinner if we’re cooking that night. He is great about helping me out with whatever needs to be done, so finishing dinner usually ends up a team sport.

6:00-7:30: We eat dinner and catch up on our days together. Sometimes we watch a show, sometimes we just kind of hang out.
8:00-8:30: After hanging out for a while, we get ready to head to bed. I might read for a little while, or we might just talk before both drifting off. It’s a busy day and we get to get up and do it all over again!

That bedding is adorable!
I would say to make sure your diaper changing area, swaddles, bottles, etc are just all ready to use. I found that a newborn didn’t need a lot, but he needed some very specific things on his schedule, not mine lol. The very last thing you want to do is unpack/set things up when you get home from the hospital. Also, freezer meals are helpful if you can make them in advance.
