It goes without saying that life changes a lot after having kids, right? In our current stage, I feel like time is my most valuable commodity. I never have enough of it. So right now, I’m all about saving as much time as I possibly can, and I’m always on the hunt for things that will help me do that. I have my favorite things that have made life with a baby easier and life with a toddler easier, but I also need a whole slew of things that just make life easier. Period.
At almost three years into motherhood (how is my girl about to turn 3?!) I feel like I’ve tried a lot of “life hacks” and I’ve been able to find a handful that are working for me.
ONE // Revlon One Step
When and how to wash, dry, and style my hair was something I really struggled with in early motherhood. I have a pretty good routine going right now and a lot of it is thanks to the Revlon One Step. This bad boy will dry and style at the same time and sometimes I’m not sure I could wash my hair during the week without it! It works best and gives the most volume when I can blow dry my roots for a couple minutes first. Also, using a good heat protectant is a must!
TWO // Flawless in Five
After becoming a mom, I also quickly realized that I needed to streamline and simplify my makeup routine. Since getting my daytime skincare figured out, I’ve also landed on some tried and true makeup goods that save me time in the mornings.
Right now, I’m using the Beautycounter Flawless in Five set of five pieces that require five minutes or less to pull me together and bring some life to my face. I usually add a touch of bronzer and some eye liner as well. When I have a little bit more time, or on the weekends, I’ll add some eyeshadow, but in truth I really don’t stray far from this routine most days of the week.

THREE // Baked Oatmeal + Coffee
This next one might seem kind of silly and maybe isn’t really a mom life hack, but I’m throwing it in anyway. Every Sunday, I make my favorite baked oatmeal recipe and eat it for breakfast all week long. I use the same recipe with different fruit and seeds each week and make a little extra for the girls. In my previous life, I meal prepped macro-friendly meals and snacks every week, but these days, I just want to make sure I’m full and satisfied at the beginnings of my busiest days.
And as a bonus, coffee. I don’t think I could mom without coffee.

FOUR // Morning Workouts
One of my greatest mom life hacks is morning workouts!! I have always been a proponent for rising early and getting it out of the way, but I am even more so since becoming a mother. For one thing, it’s still pretty clear that if I don’t workout first thing, it’s unlikely to happen at all. Secondly, I really do like the mom and wife I am much more after a workout. I’m happier, more productive, and have so much more energy. I also love the example it helps me set for my babies. One of my favorite things to hear is, “Mama, you do workout?”

FIVE // A Quick Morning Tidy
Finally, I’ve recently implemented a quick morning tidy in the few minutes before my girls wake during the week and it’s been a game changer! I always felt so disappointed in myself that I never had the energy to clean in the evenings, or the girls’ dominated my attention and it wouldn’t happen. I finally realized that I needed to change my expectations.
I’ve been practicing this for a few weeks now, and the house is by no means spotless, but I feel better knowing something is done. Cleaning the kitchen, the bathroom counters, or folding a quick load of laundry is much easier in the mornings right now.

Yes, yes, and yes. Reckon one step, got it! Baked oatmeal recipe, a fav! Quick morning tidy, why was I not doing that years earlier! I feel productive early on and less to do when I get home.
Yes, 100%! Life changes so much during motherhood. I’ve realized it’s about figuring out what works best for YOU and your fam!!
