I really do love a good old fashioned blog post, and it’s been a while since I’ve done one. Today is the first day of a four-day weekend in observance of Easter, so I thought it would be good day to crank out one of these babies. 😉 Hang out for some Friday Favorites and then share yours with me!
Five Life Lately Things
ONE // Long Weekends
Obviously, a favorite right now is that this is a long weekend! Yesterday, everyone on campus was feeling the anticipation for a break. My oldest daughter had her first class Easter egg hunt and I got to bring some of my 7th grade students over to hide their eggs! I made it back for the hunt a few minutes later and it was the sweetest thing to see. On days like those, I’m extra thankful that my girls are just a few yards away so I can experience those cool mom things and then seamlessly jump back into teacher mode.
TWO // Slow Mornings
With long weekends come the ability to slow down a little bit and we took full advantage of it this morning! I turned off my alarm and slept straight through until 6:30. The baby (lol she’s 16 months now!) woke up shortly after that and she just got to hang out with Mama and Dada for a while before Big Sister woke up. I know there is so much goodness and sweetness that comes with each stage of parenting, but I’m going to miss it when we’re officially out of the baby days.
THREE // What You Water Will Grow!
This is something I’m so excited about! Starting Monday, I will be hosting a fitness challenge group called What You Water Will Grow. We will be using quick and effective, 20-minute workouts and mindset practices to help us bring focus and awareness back to ourselves so we can continue taking care of those around us! If this is something you might be interested in, I would love so much to share more information with you.
FOUR // Bringing Joy to the Mundane
One of my least favorite things to do as a mom of very young kids is…….. packing lunch boxes. I really don’t like it. It requires what feels like hours of prep on Sundays and takes time away from our already short weekday evenings. My kids aren’t old enough to eat from the cafeteria, and because they are in daycare from 7:30 to 4:30 that means I’m packing breakfast, lunch, and two snacks for both of them five days a week. I do love trying out new muffin recipes for them, but it’s still exhausting.
Anyway, I’ve been working on bringing some intentional joy to this process in my own silly way. I’ve been chronicling the process throughout the week over on Instagram stories and it’s kind of fun talk about all the food my kids do (and don’t!) eat throughout the week. I would love for you to come over and watch, join, and share any tips you have for making this process a little more joyful!
FIVE // Big M’s First Field Trip
Finally, a major favorite from the last week or so was that my big girl also had her first field trip. Her whole little K2 class got to board the big bus and ride across town to The Little Gym for some play time! I mentioned last week that I was supposed to be on an overnight trip with my 5th graders, but my coworkers helped me arrange it so that I could be with my girl instead. I’m so so grateful I got to experience her first field trip. Riding next to her on the bus and watching her show off her front roll and balance beam skills is something I won’t soon forget. ❤️
I hope everyone has a really fantastic Friday and a blessed Easter! I’m linking up with Erika and Andrea for Friday Favorites!
