On this final Friday of September, let’s check out my goals for the month of October and see how I did on my goals for September!
Here we are again at the end of another month! I’m not sure about you guys, but I feel like I blinked and suddenly September was gone. I thought the month of August was crazy, but September really knocked me off my feet! With the beginning of the school year busyness brought on by September, I’m hoping October offers a chance to slow down and rest a bit.

ONE // Develop a school year blogging plan
Grade: A
I finally sat down and devised a blogging plan. It’s pretty solid if I could only stick to it! I would like to figure out a way to carve out the time to blog without letting the rest of my life fall out of balance.
TWO // Stick to my training plan
Grade: B
I’m not super pleased with my training for September. In fact, I wish it gone completely differently. For the most part, my maintenance runs during the weeks went great, but the weekends were where things went awry. I’m taking some steps to get myself out of this rut for October!
See my weekly recaps from September:
THREE // Complete my lesson plans and prep before leaving school on Fridays
Grade: F
I don’t think I got this done a single week of the month. I’ve mentioned that I have a lot of freedom in my new teaching position. Part of that freedom is not having to have lesson plans turned in by 3 p.m. on Fridays. Unfortunately this means I throw them together at the last minute and I kind of feel like I’m flying by the seat of my pants.

FOUR // Make our FastPass reservations!
Grade: A
Well, at least I did one thing right in September! I also snagged a few more meal reservations for while we’re there! If you have any recommendations, I’d LOVE to hear them! 🙂
FIVE // Read another book
Grade: A
Y’all, I finally finished Into the Water. It took me forever to get through this book and not because I didn’t enjoy it. I loved it! Now I’ve moved onto to The Woman in Cabin 10 but I’m one chapter in. I’m a terrible example for my students, aren’t I?
Like every other Basic B on the planet, I love the month of October! I always have. The weather in Texas finally starts to cool off a bit, afternoon runs get easier, a lot of my favorite people celebrate their birthdays, and this year I get Columbus Day off from work! That’s reason enough that I’m all about October. 😉 Now let’s get into those goals!
ONE // Keep up with my school year blogging plan
As I mentioned above, I devised a plan and now I just need to stick with it! In the month of October, I want to try and carve out the time each day, or most days of the week, to focus on a few blogging tasks.
TWO // Stick to my training plan
Earlier this week, I posted my training plan for the final weeks leading up to my face. I’m switching things up from what I’ve been doing previously, so I’m hopeful I can bust it out. However, I know it will be another busy month, so I’m going to have to allow myself a bit of grace if things don’t quite go as planned.
THREE // Complete my lesson plans and prep before leaving school on Fridays
Since I didn’t get a handle on this in September, I definitely need to work on it now. I need to use some of that freedom I have to develop a routine that works for me.
FOUR // Catch up on house cleaning during the week
Between work and running and all the other things I have to do, my home has fallen into disarray! I haven’t dusted in weeks, the floors desperately need mopped, and I’ve had at least one unfolded basket in the laundry room for weeks. That needs to change!
FIVE // Complete vacation preparations
Just as I’m on the home stretch to my race, we’re on the home stretch to our Disney vacation! I’ve made 98% percent of the arrangements, so now it’s time to get all the tiny details in order, like buying travel sized shampoo bottles. I may be strange, but that’s actually something I enjoy! I need to throw together my packing list and decide on my race outfit as well. I hope to do this in the form of future blog posts!
Well, there’s September in a nutshell and my hopes for October! Today, I’m headed back home from a work trip in San Antonio, Texas. It’s been a busy week, so I’m hoping for some rest! Wishing you all the same. Happy Friday, friends!

I love your fitness goals! Sometimes it is so hard to get in a good workout! My husband is a teacher so I understand that crazy hours that you have!
Jessica says
Yes! Being a teacher definitely has its perks, but early mornings aren’t one of them!

I am terrible at making goals. I hated doing it for TTESS last year but this year I’m being evaluated by a different system – Yay! Good luck with all of yours!
Jessica says
I wasn’t a fan of TTESS!! I’m so glad you get to be evaluated by a different system!
