Almost a year ago, I hit “publish” on the first post for this blog. (You can read it and giggle here!) With that milestone fast approaching and 2018 right around the corner, I’m asking myself where the time has gone. Time seems to fly by faster and faster with each passing year, so in an effort to slow things down, I want to take a moment to look back on 2017. Grab some coffee and join me!

JANUARY
When I blogged in the past, it was all about needing a creative outlet. I had a job that allowed next to nothing in the way of creativity and I felt completely trapped. Fast forward two years later and I was feeling the same way in my then-job, so I gave myself a reintroduction to the blog world.

Though I published my first post in December of 2016, things really got rolling in January. I spent a lot of time writing and trying to get things planned for the month before heading back to school for the spring semester.
FEBRUARY
February found me in the thick of 10K training. After recently signing up for the runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon, running and Disney and runDisney were basically the only things on my mind.

My Favorite Post: Meet Pippa
My favorite post of the month is, of course, the one in which I introduced my sweet Pippa to the world. If you follow me on Instagram, you know she’s a regular star there! She recently turned 7 years old and I’ve loved every moment of being her mom! My husband would roll his eyes at that, but he loves her too. 🙂
MARCH
In March, I ran my first ever 10K. It was my first ever 10K and probably my strongest race to date. My mom ran the 10K as well. I love that we share this enthusiasm for running and activity! I’m excited to run the Energy City series again in 2018 — distance, TBD!

APRIL
April was a HUGE month for my little family, as my husband and I celebrated one year of marriage on the 23rd. Having known this man for almost 20 years, I’m so thankful, happy, and blessed to be his wife. The Lord could not have picked a more perfect match for me!

MAY
The end of April to the first of June were some hard and stressful weeks. I found myself in a constant state of stress regardless of the impending summer break. I spent a lot of time questioning my place at my campus and praying over whether or not I should stay another year. I took a leap of faith and interviewed for a job in the independent school world. It was undoubtedly one of the best things I did for myself in 2017!

JUNE
On June 3rd (the day after school got out), I turned in my resignation for one job and signed a contract for another. I felt like a colossal weight had been lifted from my shoulders and I could spend the short summer truly relaxing.

With the start date for half marathon training approaching, we started making more concrete plans for our Disney trip. We secured some fantastic dining reservations, and I spent the majority of the summer with Disney on the brain. (If you didn’t know I was Disney-obsessed already, I think you do now!)
JULY
The beginning of July brought half marathon training in full swing. One major advantage of being a teacher off duty is the free time available to dedicate to endurance training! My workouts and long runs were done with my weekends free and plenty of time leftover to spend with my husband.

AUGUST
In August, my “Teacher Off Duty” status was revoked as I begin inservice duties for my new job. I learned quickly that I love (LOVE) my new school! Students, teachers, coworkers, love it! That said, it was an incredibly busy month that brought about a great deal of change and adjustment. In the long run, however, it was so worth it.

SEPTEMBER
September was another busy month around these parts. Between work and family obligations, I got intense feelings of burnout in regard to half marathon training. It was then and there that I decided an 18-week cycle was not for me. However, not training was not an option, so I powered through and switched things up in the weeks leading up to the race.

As summer wrapped up, so did the runDisney Virtual Running Shorts Series. I more than earned those medals with at least a 5K a week all summer, so I took the time to review the series for the blog. Check it out!
OCTOBER
My husband’s birth month! I celebrated him with a silly post in his honor: Things My Husband Says. I sure do love that man, and like I said in April, the Lord knew what he was doing when he paired us together!

NOVEMBER
November brought about GO TIME, as no sooner was it the first of the month than hubby and I were MCO bound for the Wine & Dine Half Marathon. My dream (like five years in the making) was finally becoming a reality. Initially, I had so many mixed emotions regarding the race. At times I still do, but overall I’m so proud of myself and so happy to say I’ve run through the happiest place on earth. Catch my full race recap and review here.

I also had a great time recapping the parts of our trip that were not directly related to the race. I’m so happy to have finally experienced my favorite destination with my favorite person. And though my husband might kill me, I have to say I’m looking forward to our next Disney trip already. 🙂
DECEMBER
… Which brings us back to the here and now! With Christmas only three days away, 2017 is practically over! I’ve filled the month with some 5K fun runs, a lot of chocolate, and tons of enjoyment. I hope to fill these last nine days of the year with more of the same. Oh, and some birthday cake, because, hello, this girls turns 29 on the 31st! 😉

Congrats on your blogging anniversary and switching to a job that is better suited! I too love Disney and spent many vacations with my boys there. My first half marathon was Disney. My first full marathon was Disney. They certainly know how to do an entertaining race. Here’s to a great 2018!
