The second phase of Energy City Half Marathon training has come to a close. Follow along as I head into phase two and discuss some lessons learned.
This training cycle has flown by! I can’t believe I’m nearing race day so quickly. With the last eight weeks gone, it’s time to take a look at the final four. I will be racing on March 24 and here’s a quick glimpse into my training plan.
Changes: There will not be too many changes. My mileage will continue to ramp up and I’ll continue to work in regular strength work and yoga. Thankfully, “peak week” will hit while I’m on spring break. So I’m looking forward to the culmination of my training coming on a week when I’ll be getting extra sleep. 🙂
Strength: I plan to continue my strength training through the end of this cycle. In the last week, I’ll lightly lighten up my load quite a bit and ease off the lower body workouts. Right now I’m using Studio Tone It Up for my strength training — mostly because it’s so easy. I plan to keep that up until I get bored with it and feel the need to move on to something else!
