Today, I’m sharing what’s “currently” going on at the I Am Teacher Fit headquarters for the month of June 2018!

It’s the first Wednesday of the month which means I’m sharing what’s currently going on around these parts. Since school got out (hurray for summer break!) things have been a bit slow so far (not complaining), but the rest of the summer is shaping up to be eventful. What’s currently going on with you these days?
TRAVELING // To NEW YORK for the first time in my life later this month. I’m attending a training for work, so when my supervisor asked if I would be interested, HOW could I say no?! We will be there for a week and will have very flexible evenings. What can’t I miss? This country girl is in for a wild ride! Well, as wild as a couple of teachers can be, I guess.

GRILLING // Anything and everything. It’s been so hot here (like +100° for the past two weeks) that using the oven is impossible. When my husband was out of town for work last week, I even (wo)manned it all by myself. But while I’m not bad, he’s the best, and will make the best bunless burger around!

EXPLORING // The ins and outs of my June Change Makers Challenge! I’m so excited to kick off next week’s virtual bootcamp. It’s three weeks of workouts (any program!) and nutrition and accountability. I know that sometimes my motivation dwindles in the summer, so this will be perfect to keep me going! Are you needing some motivation and accountability this summer? You should absolutely join us! This blog post has the details, but you can also apply for the challenge here, or reach out to me with any questions!❤

PLANTING // Nothing outside around here because it’s so hot it will surely die. Somewhat unrelated, I guess you could say I’ve been “planting” ear drops in my sweet Pippa’s ear. She had a little surgical procedure last week and has been recovering ever since. Over the weekend she started to show signs of potential infection, so I called in some meds earlier this week. If anyone has advice for keeping dogs’ ears clean and dry, please share them!

PLAYING // With the idea of planning a quick getaway with my husband this summer. Last year, we took a last minute trip to Austin before school started, but much of this summer is already planned out. I’d like to make it happen, but we’ll just have to see!
Question: What’s “currently” going on in your life this first Wednesday of June?

Enjoy your trip to New York! You can’t fool anyone – I know how wild teachers can be!
Hope you have fun in NY! There is so much to do there. I am also trying to plan a try for this summer but haven’t figured out when or where!
We just planned an end-of-summer getaway ourselves, figuring that it’ll be easier to get grandparents to take over for a week before the school craziness begins. Can’t wait! And how fun to get to NYC for work – especially when you do have some free time available. I say you’ve got to get to Broadway!
NYC is THE BEST! You will love it. Honestly the first time you go there are just so many possibilities of things to see and no way to do it all. I personally suggest the “touristy” stuff on your first trip….statue of liberty, empire state bldg, top of the rock, central park. We had pizza in Brooklyn at Grimaldis and then walked back to NYC across the Brooklyn bridge and I seriously thought it was one of the best parts of my last trip!
Getaways..if you are near Austin which I’m assuming you are by your note…look into a state rate which you can get as a teacher at both Lost Pines Hyatt and the JW Marriott in San Antonio. They both make great getaways and if you can get the state rate the price isn’t too bad. We also actually love the Hyatt on the lake in downtown Austin…older hotel but a great location and I’ve gotten great rates there before. We are actually at Lost Pines for a few days right now soaking up some down time!
Sorry for leaving a BOOK comment!! haha
Way to go, (wo)manning the grill on your own!! I have tried to do it on my own but always mess up which direction to turn down the knobs. It can’t be that hard and yettttt…..hahaha. Way to go on your change makers bootcamp thing!
