All runners want to get faster, right? Sheesh, I know I do! I had been running for a few years until I really started to consider HOW to make myself faster. In my last half marathon training cycle, I had fantastic success with repeats and tempo runs. I realized that to get faster I had to, well, run faster.
Today, I’m sharing one of my go-to speed workouts that can be done outside or on the treadmill. AND! It’s only 30 minutes long. Because fast for me may not be fast for you, this workout is based on your rate of perceived exertion. Run based on how you feel and use that to guide you into your next pace. It’s also based on time as opposed to specific distances.
Equipment Required:
-None! But this can be done on a treadmill if you wish!

This workout can easily be programmed into a watch or interval timer. Personally, I use an app called Seconds and I really like it, but do what works best for you! I would love to know if you try this workout and what you think. Happy running, my friends!
Question: How do you practice speed work?

I love workouts like this! I do something similar where I increase my pace every mile on the treadmill – great way to practice progressive running!

I love the simplicity of this workout and that it allows people to pick their own paces.
