It’s Sunday and I am oh-so glad to be home in my own space! This time last week, I was en route to NYC for a teacher’s conference. I have hardly slowed down since 4 a.m. last Sunday, so I welcome a slooooow week to come!
Sunday, 6/17/18:
I was up shortly after 4 a.m. to leave the house by 5 a.m. and fly out by 6:20! After a short layover in Houston, we headed to LaGuardia, made it to our hotel, and then did some walking through Time Square. I met my step count with no problem, so I’m calling it an active rest day!
Monday, 6/18/18:
Registration for the conference began at 7:30, so we planned to leave by 6:45. That meant another 4 a.m. morning, which to me felt like 3 a.m. Womp womp! Thankfully, the hotel gym was 98 percent empty, so I plenty of room to get my workout in. Because I’m so close to finishing 80 Day Obsession, I downloaded my workouts to use offline and did my AAA workout without missing a beat.
Tuesday, 6/19/18:
Cardio day. Because there was no equipment required, I did it in the room! We were also able to leave a little later, so that meant I got to sleep a little later too. Win!
I also got to eat at The Palm and see Wicked this night. Bucket list items–check, check! I have wanted to see Wicked for so many years and definitely cried during Defying Gravity. Also, Ashley Parker Angel (from the boyband O-Town) played Fiyero and that was pretty neat.

Wednesday, 6/20/18:
Wednesday was my regularly scheduled leg day, so again, I found a corner in the hotel gym and got to work. It was much more crowded this time, but I still had my pick of the equipment at hand and got in a great workout.
Thursday, 6/21/18:
I did an upper body/HIIT workout that was only 20 minutes in place of my planned 60-minute workout. 1. At this point, the exhaustion was really starting to get to me and I wanted to sleep in. 2. It was a preview of my next program, LIIFT4, that I’ll be starting July 16. This program is 4 days/week, 20-40 minutes, and a perfect combination of lifting and HIIT cardio. I’m soooo excited to start it! If you’re interested in joining, let me know and I can get you more information!!

Friday, 6/22/18:
We were scheduled to head out on Friday, but not until after a full day. I still got my planned cardio done in the room before our last day at the conference. I was at the airport by about 2 p.m. for my 4:50 flight that was delayed until 5:20 and then 5:50. And then finally took off around 6:30. I got to Houston around 9:15 and then was making the final stretch home by 10:30. After it was all said and done I pulled into the garage about 12:45 and crashed as quickly as possible thereafter!
Saturday, 6/23/18:
Because I got back so late the night before, I called Saturday a total rest day. I slept in until about 8, took a 2-hour afternoon nap, and according to my Fitbit was asleep for the night by 8:30. I told y’all I was tired!
While I stayed active and definitely met my step goals each day, my nutrition was lackluster. With it being my first time in the city, I just could not turn down all the amazing food on every corner! From gnocchi to brick oven pizza to chocolate mousse cake, I was living the dream.😜 But this week, it’s back to tracking my nutrition and finishing up my LAST AND FINAL WEEK of 80 Day Obsession! Have a great week, everyone!

I’ve never used a hotel gym but I usually run where ever we go on vacation. We have an Alaskan cruise at the end of July so I may be running in circles around the ship.

Glad you enjoyed my city. I always pack sneakers & gym clothes, but sometimes I find hotel gyms to be less than conducive, so I do what I can. So hard too to get steps in while traveling.

Sounds like a busy week of traveling! I’m always impressed with people who get their workouts in away from home. Great job!

It can be tough to get everything in during a conference travel week. When i was in DC two years ago, I did a little bit of cardio, but didn’t push myself. Conferences can be draining.

unless I’m actively training for something I don’t generally exercise on vacation unless you count all the walking and activities I’m doing for fun.
What conference did you have in NYC? I love visiting there.

WOW! you really fit it all in, even though you were away! And I say you get a pass on the nutrition subject… hello, you were in NYC!!! Home is the place where I always try to do my best with nutrition – when I’m away I’m allowed to enjoy things (in moderation of course… *wink*).
I generally still work out when I travel. I always have my running kit with me. If I’m away longer than a week I will try find a gym in the neighborhood or, like you did, use the space I have for body weight exercises. I try to keep my step count up too. That balances out the food 🙂

How fun to be in NYC, even if it was for a work conference. At least you were able to do some fun touristy things and see a play on Broadway. I’m jealous, I haven’t seen Wicked. Air travel is so exhausting! I hope you’ve rested up by now. Thanks for linking!
