Happy Monday! I hope this post finds you well! It’s a different type of Monday for me. My students are out of school, but I’m not! I’m heading in for an inservice day, which will mean a lot of sitting in meetings. When I have to be sedentary, it always makes me thankful for the activity I’m able to get in. Check out how I got moving and grooving last week.
Sunday, 9/2/18:
Sunday was a mostly lazy day and it took me some time to convince myself to move. I started watching Harry Potter & the Sorcerer’s Stone and didn’t want to stop it part way in… So I bargained with myself and did some yoga while I finished the movie. Whatever works, right?!

Monday, 9/3/18:
Monday was Labor Day and my husband and I both had the day off. We slept in and laid around until almost lunch time. Around 11:00 I mustered the energy to hit chest and shoulders and followed it with a run/walk/run. It was actually W1D1 of Couch to 5K–which I’ve done a hundred times. I did it on the treadmill with a fast run for the “run” intervals and an incline walk for the “walk” intervals.
Tuesday, 9/4/18:
Waking up Tuesday was hard. I could’ve used another day to sleep in, buuuut I got up anyway. I got my leg day smashing out of the way and waited for the DOMS to hit. Oh, and did they! It’s funny how going back to basics–squats, deadlifts, lunges–will do the trick every time.

Wednesday, 9/5/18:
Wednesday morning I got in another run/walk/run following the same strategy I used on Monday. I also hit back and biceps before hopping on the treadmill. My heart rate doesn’t always get super high when I do upper body workouts, so the cardio boost was a nice finishing touch!
Thursday, 9/6/18:
Rest day.
Friday, 9/7/18:
I had intentions of running again on Friday–running two to three times a week is one of my September intentions–but I wasn’t up for it. I thought about subbing it for HIIT, but wasn’t going to have time for that AND the triceps/abs workout I had planned. All in all, I was ok with that because Friday ended up being a crazy day. It started raining shortly after I got to school and didn’t stop all day. Because we never get rain here, our drainage systems are horrible. It flooded all over town and we ended up having to release school early!
Saturday, 9/8/18:
It rained all day again, so we didn’t leave the house. After waking up way too early for a Saturday, I squeezed in a HIIT workout comprised of KB swings, jump rope, and too many burpees.
