Have you been wanting to get in shape, but realized you don’t know HOW to begin a fitness journey? These four tips will help you get started!

Everyone has to start somewhere, right? Speaking from personal experience, I had been thinking about getting healthy and exercising for months before I actually took the plunge and did it. To be honest, I didn’t know how to start, where to go for advice, or how to even find the motivation to try. I remember this feeling, and today, I’m reaching out to YOU if you’re currently in that place. I hope these tips will point you in the right direction and give you some resources you might not have thought of! (And maybe a special surprise at the end.😜)
I Don’t Know How to Begin a Fitness Journey. Where Do I Start?
ONE // Hire a personal trainer
Don’t know where to start with your fitness journey? Well, hire someone to do the hard work for you! I know the idea of working with a personal trainer can seem intimidating, but a professional can help set you on the right course. A personal trainer should keep your experience level and your goals in mind instead of shoving a cookie cutter program on you that might not fit. And most importantly, a true professional is there to support you, not to judge you, so there’s no need to feel intimidated by working with a personal trainer.
TWO // Join a bootcamp
Personally, this is the route I chose to take and one I highly support. I heard about “Bikini Bootcamp” offered by a fitness studio in my area and I thought it sounded like just what I needed. It wasn’t in my budget to hire a personal trainer, so I felt like this was the next best thing. Someone else was doing all the programming–I just needed to show up. And much to my delight, I was in a class FULL of people who were on “my level”–aka beginners just looking to get started. I owe my love of fitness today to that first bootcamp seven years ago!

THREE // Utilize at-home workouts
Ok, so the thought of working out in public is terrifying?! I get it. Hey, I work out at home 99 percent of the time. If you identify with that sentiment, you should look into at-home workout programs. That said, do your research! There are so many at-home resources available these days for people of any fitness level. From Tone It Up to Beachbody to Jillian Michaels, and so many others in between, you can find a resource that is fit for you, will motivate you, and will get you excited to get up and moving!
