I am pretty simple when it comes to my beauty routine — I’ve mentioned that before. Anything that helps me maintain that simplicity is a win in my book. I consider myself a beauty lover, but I’ve moved on from my phase of trying to perfect HAC or winged eyeliner. These days, I just want to maximize my time and get out the door without looking like a hot mess. This light summer makeup routine helps me look put together without spending too much time or piling on the products!
1 // Prep
I remember trying BB Cream for the first time around five years ago (it was this Smashbox one) and I’ve been a BB/CC believer ever since. On a clean face, I blend my tarte Amazonian clay BB Cream mixed with Cetaphil Oil Control Moisturizer. Both of these products provide SPF, so this is all the sun protection I use on my face.
2 // Conceal
Next, I cover any blemishes or redness I might have. Thankfully, my skin has moved on from the angry teenager acne stage (for the most part), but now I’m moving into under eye circle territory. I guess that’s what starts to happen when you become an adult. Who do I call to fix that? Anyway, I recently picked up some tarte Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. I use this on my chin, around my nose, and under my eyes. I wouldn’t call this light coverage, but because I keep my base light, I don’t mind my concealer being a bit heavier. If you prefer your concealer to be lighter, I also love this tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer.

3 // Emphasize
Now comes the fun part! Right now, I’m using Benefit Dandelion for my blush. I give a couple of swipes across my cheek bone and then reach for my Lorac Tantalizer (I prefer the matte version). I swipe a little bit of the bronzer under my cheek bones and jaw, and around my hairline for the slightest contour.
Next, I dab a little bit of Urban Decay Primer Potion on both of my eyelids. I started using eyeshadow primer a few years ago and I’m not sure how I ever survived without it. It’s magic! When I’m going for light makeup, I always reach for my Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette. The matte colors are perfect for a light summer day. My favorites and most used shades are Stark all over the lid, and Cover in my creases. I finish my eyes with pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Noir (the same eyeliner I talked about here!), and tarte tarteist Lash Paint.
4 // Finish
Finally! After a quick dust of bareMinerals BareSkin Perfecting Veil, I give a spritz of Urban Decay De-Slick setting spray. Does this actually help my makeup last longer? To be honest, I have no idea, but I’m a sucker for marketing. As I’m running out the door trying not to be late to wherever I’m headed, I slap on some ChapStick and if I’m lucky, I remember to follow it up with some gloss. One of my favorites is the Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss in Nooner.
I’m all about a light beauty routine in the summer, but honestly, I like my makeup light year round. Depending on the season, I switch up my products a little, or try out different colors. However, this pretty much describes my routine day in and day out.
Question: Do you prefer light summer makeup, or being all dolled up?

You’re so lucky to have clear skin! I had no issues during my teenage years, now my skin HATES me and it’s acting like a teenagers skin.
I love the UD deslick and I do think it makes my makeup last longer. LOL! Especially since my skin is so oily!
Love easy and fresh faced looks like this.
